Seychelle Water Filter

You can use a Seychelle water filter for filtering your everyday municipal water supplies, pond water or filtering water that has radioactive toxins. Seychelle is the only company that currently offers filters that can remove radiological waste.

Seychelle filters are not only lab-tested but also field-tested to the point, that it is claimed they are the most tested filters in the world. The Broward Testing Laboratory uses EPA methods to test to National Science Foundation (NSF)/ American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Standards 42 and 53, which address taste, odor, health related impurities and unstable organic compounds.

Different Seychelle Filters

Seychelle has a variety of products that make use of their filters such as:

  • Pitchers
  • Water bags
  • Water pumps
  • Water bottles
  • Straws
  • Canteens
  • In-line filters

Types of Filters

You can choose a Seychelle water filter suited specifically for the water you need to purify. Seychelle lists its filters as regular, standard, advanced and radiological according to the degree they purify water:

Seychelle Regular Filter

This filter is for chlorinated municipal water and since it removes chlorine and improves the taste and color of the water, it can replace commercially bottled water.

Seychelle Standard Filter

This filter is for any freshwater source that is not stagnant and it removes viruses and bacteria as well as improving taste and color.

Seychelle Advanced Filter

This filter does everything the standard filter does, but it has iodinated resin, which removes organisms found in stagnant water.

Seychelle Radiological Filter

This filter removes the same pollutants as the advanced filter and removes radiological contaminants such as Radon 222, Plutonium, Uranium and others.

A Seychelle water filter can ordinarily filter 100 gallons of clean water before you have to replace it. When the water flow slows down or if it is difficult to squeeze the water through the filter bottle, it is time to replace the filter. Take note that you cannot use Seychelle filters with salt water.

Radiological Filter

The radiological water filter is unique to Seychelle products. You can buy the radiological filters for use with a water pitcher, a water bottle or as a drinking straw as you can for the standard and advanced filters.

  • The radiological water pitcher costs about $100 with replacement filters costing about $70. The simple design allows an adult or child to use it easily.

  • The radiological flip top filter bottle is a 28 oz. container that you can attach to a belt or backpack. It, too, is easy to use, costs about 70 dollars and its replacement filters cost about $45.

  • The radiological drinking straw costs about $25, compared to the pure water straw advanced at  $18 and the pure water standard at $16.

Considering the additional protection from radiological contaminants, the extra dollars are a wise investment.

Long Term Storage

If you are going to store a Seychelle filter for a long time, you should:

  • Cover the filter with chlorinated water that you prepare by mixing a half-teaspoon of chlorine with one gallon of water.

  • Allow the chlorinated water to flow through the filter then rinse it with filtered water to remove the chlorine.

  • Allow the bottle/filter to dry unassembled.

  • Reassemble the bottle/filter for long-term storage

Remember- A Seychelle water filter can ordinarily filter 100 gallons of clean water before you have to replace it. When the water flow slows down and it is difficult to squeeze the water through the filter bottle, it is time to replace the filter. It’s tempting to keep using it – but do replace once its effectiveness has waned.

You don't have to wait for a catastrophic event to use a Seychelle filter as it is less expensive and it reduces the number of water bottles in the landfills or in the ocean. More importantly, a Seychelle water filter improves the taste and safety of your drinking water, even if your water is from a municipal reservoir.
